Colin Garratt - Railway Photographer

Thirty years ago, Colin Garratt abandoned a promising commercial career to document, on colour film, The Last Steam Locomotives of the world. This unique odyssey - which continues apace - has taken him to fifty countries embracing all continents and in pursuit of imperilled survivors, he has visited some of the remotest places on earth. The Sunday Times appropriately described Colin as “the David Attenborough of the steam locomotive”. Colin Garratt has written and illustrated over fifty books on railways, travel and photography, including his autobiography. He is also widely known for his work in radio and television. Colin Garratt is the Director of Milepost 92½ - picture library and photographers to the railway industry.
